After 3,448.6 km and a height difference of 51,300 metres, the winner will be celebrated at Fori Imperiali for the Giro d&#8217;Italia 106th edition.<\/h2>\n<p><em>Giro d&#8217;Italia 2023<\/em> edition no. 106 will be <strong>21 stages<\/strong>. On Friday May 5, the official team presentation will be held in <strong>Pescara<\/strong>. The day after, the first pink jersey will be awarded at the end of the <strong>Grande Partenza<\/strong>, an individual chrono of 18.4 km along the amazing Costa dei Trabocchi, between Fossacesia Marina (Ch) and Ortona, in Abruzzo (it\u2019s the second time, after 2001). This is one of the three time trials scheduled, along with the 9th and especially the 20th stages, a difficult 18.6 km race with a 7.5 km climb to Monte Lussari (Tv).<\/p>\n<p>The competition will end on <strong>May 28 in Rome<\/strong>, after almost a month of exciting races, spread over 3,448.6 kilometres and 51,300 metres of height difference. It will be the fifth time Rome will host the <strong>finals cycling race<\/strong> organised by Rcs Sport\/La Gazzetta dello Sport (the first in 1911, the last in 2018). Rcs and Roma Capitale&#8217;s agreement aims to initiating a regular appointment for the <em>Giro<\/em>, or at least until 2026. \u00abThe Rome arrival for the <em>Giro d&#8217;Italia<\/em> is like the Paris one for the <em>Tour de France<\/em>: it\u2019s the natural end\u00bb, said Rcs President <strong>Urbano Cairo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The 21st stage will join some of the most famous sites in the <strong>Eternal City<\/strong> along 115 km. \u00abWe are developing a route showcasing the &#8216;<strong>Great Beauty<\/strong>&#8216; of Rome, from its suburbs to the city centre. It will be a widespread event, involving the entire population. We will dress neighbourhoods in pink and promote sport and two-wheels mobility\u00bb said <strong>Alessandro Onorato<\/strong>, Capitoline Councillor for Sport, Major Events, Fashion and Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>According to agenda, race start will be in <strong>Ostia\u2019s<\/strong> seafront area, then back towards the city centre via the <strong>Eur<\/strong> district. It will reach <strong>St. Peter&#8217;s<\/strong> via the <strong>Circus Maximus<\/strong> and the <strong>Spanish Steps<\/strong>, avoiding an urban circuit where too many obstacles are scattered along the streets. Bikers will find the finish banner in Via dei <strong>Fori Imperiali<\/strong>. Here the <em>Trofeo Senza Fine<\/em> winner will be crowned in the shade of the <strong>Colosseum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abWe are proud to host <em>Giro d&#8217;Italia&#8217;s<\/em> arrival at the Fori Imperiali&#8217;s unique setting. Rome confirms itself as the ideal venue for major international events and increasingly relaunches its image as sporting Capital\u00bb commented Rome\u2019s Mayor, <strong>Roberto Gualtieri<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Many expected athletes. Consider the outgoing <em>Giro<\/em> champion, Australian <strong>Jai Hindley<\/strong>, Slovenian Primoz Roglic or Ecuadorian Richard Carapaz or Colombian Egan Bernal (after his serious crash at 2022 beginning). Although everyone \u2013 especially because of the three time trials \u2013 is looking forward to the return of the World Champion and <em>2022 Vuelta<\/em> winner <strong>Remco Evenepoel<\/strong> after two years.<\/p>\n<p>The big no-show will be Vincenzo Nibali \u2013 aka <em>the Shark<\/em> \u2013 who won a <em>Tour de France<\/em> (2014), two <em>Giro d&#8217;Italia<\/em> (2013 and 2016) and a <em>Vuelta<\/em> (2010) and retired after the <em>Giro di Lombardia 2022<\/em> last October.
